Welcome to Phantoms Online
The PHANTOMS are a relatively new club, the first dues paying members joined in April 1998. We had a Spring Social
at the Mississippi Links Clubhouse, Red Wing, in the spring, and that became an annual event. We also have a Fall
Social, a time to get together, and renew friendships. The founders wanted a club where everyone was welcome, and
having a car was not a requirement. Having a strong active membership was a goal from the beginning of the club. To
achieve that goal we felt it was necessary to have events or activities every month of the year. Also, having
communication with the membership was deemed to be important for a vibrant organization. To that end we have
published the PHANTOM NEWSLETTER every quarter since inception. Since everyone is very busy, it was decided
not to have general membership meeting, but to have a board of directors to lead the organization.
We established outreach programs to bring our cars and ourselves into the communities which we care about. We visit
health care facilities and schools in our member communities. We cooperate with local service clubs to facilitate
events and raise funds for charitable activities.
A Phantom car is one which never was, one which has been modified to resemble one which may have been. And so, the PHANTOMS were born; we resemble a club which never was. A local artist developed the Phantom logo, the original was a man in a top hat beside a vintage car.
We appreciate the support of our sponsors, some of whom have been with us since the beginning. Also, thanks to our loyal members who make this club what it is. Our membership is comprised of people with wide ranging interests in vehicles, and models. This can truly be called an area club, with most members within 100 miles of Red Wing, Minnesota.
